Baron-Cohen et al. -  Mind in the Eyes Test

The study looks at identification of Autistic attributes in adults.  Autism is a condition which affects both children and adults in which sufferers have difficulty with social interactions, communications and making friends.

 

Autism is thought to be the result of impaired cognitive ability known as 'Theory of Mind' - the ability to attribute thoughts and motives to other people.

 

The study investigates whether the Eyes test, in which adjectives are chosen which best describe the expression of a pair of eyes in a picture, is a good measure of theory of mind and can diagnose autistic traits in adults.
