Maguire et al. - Recall of Routes by Taxi Drivers

The study uses modern brain scanning technology to examine which areas of the brain are being activated during certain types of task.

In this case the specific task in question is recall of routes. To recall a route requires two components: a geographical location by landmark, roads etc. and a sequence which takes you from start to finish.

Sequence and location are manipulated separately to observe effects on brain activation.
